Stimson/Island Plastics

The Stimson Alpine and Island Plastics St Michel
appear to have so much in common as to be the same
van under different names.
If anyone can enlighten me as to the differences,
for the sake of accuracy, please get in touch

The information here is based on the St.Michel.
Unlike the vast majority of conversions, the interior furniture is all made from
gelcoated GRP, which some people see as giving the advantage of easily wipe-clean
hygenic surfaces while others feel that it gives a rather clinical look.
The seating arrangements consist of two swivelling captains seats and a long couch behind the drivers seat, the couch has storage drawers underneath and converts into a double bed.
Opposite the couch is the "kitchen unit" comprising of hob, sink and storage drawers. Some (all?) models also have an oven. The fridge is located in the end of the kitchen unit
Just about visible in this shot you can see the positions of the overhead lockers and the overcab storage

The shower & toilet are located in a separate "wet room" which is the full width of the van. This room is behind the main living area and can be accessed directly from the rear van doors on wet days to save wet clothing and muddy footwear "contaminating" the soft furnishings.

The Purple Haze (apologies to J Hendrix)
in the photos is caused by the tinting on the rear door (bathroom) windows.

As you can see - this one is loaded up and ready to go. (Don't awnings take up a lot of room in a van of this size?)
